Hereford College of Arts Summer Show
Hereford College of Arts (HCA) students at both city campuses are currently putting together the finishing touches to their work ready to be showcased at one of the most important events in the college calendar.
The Summer Show provides an important platform for students and is a time of celebration and fresh opportunity and adventure as they prepare to move on. Some will be continuing their creative education, starting new courses at Hereford College of Arts or at universities and colleges across the UK. Many will be going to work within the creative industries, starting businesses or entering the many other forms of employment that benefit from the valuable skills developed through creative education. Families, friends, alumni, prospective students, employers, art lovers, galleries and buyers will be among the many visitors we expect. Last year the Summer Show attracted over 5,000 visitors and we are anticipating even greater numbers this year.
The Summer Show will be spread across two venues: our Folly Lane campus will showcase the work of our further education students (pre-degree) and our College Road campus will profile the work of students finishing on our undergraduate courses. For the first time this year we will also be showing work from our new MA postgraduate programme.
As a dedicated arts college with a specialist focus on the arts the college offers eleven undergraduate degrees alongside a range of pre-degree courses for students from sixteen upwards. Our Folly Lane campus will showcase the work of our 16-19 years courses as well as our popular Portfolio Course, a flexible pathway to study foundation studies for mature students. Our College Road campus will profile the work of our degree level, graduate shows. Many these students will continue to promote their work and their profile at events during June and July, such as at New Designers, Free Range and New Blood – all national and international graduate shows held annually in London.
The show opens on Saturday 11th June and concludes the following week on Saturday 18th June. As always, the show features high levels of creativity and originality, from performance art, film and photography, through to HCA’s internationally recognised Artist Blacksmithing course.
The Summer Show is also a perfect opportunity for prospective students to find out more about the courses and progression opportunities; the College welcomes new enquiries and applications for courses starting in September 2015, and there will be a dedicated Open Day on Saturday 11th June for those interested in College-Level and University-Level courses at HCA.
The College will be throwing open its doors for public viewing from Saturday 11th June to Saturday 18th June. Opening hours are Saturday/Sunday: 12-5pm and weekdays: 11am – 7pm. Everyone is very welcome to attend and there is no entrance fee.
